Hailing from Houston, TX, B Val (born Brandon Valyan) stands out as a true multi-hyphenate. Singer. Songwriter. Rapper. Producer. Engineer. And so much more.
In Time (Right Now) is a 15-track R&B concept album that’s not only about the journey of finding love – and everything it requires to hold onto it – but also about Val’s own career ambitions. His rich and eclectic musical background is felt throughout the album, as he swiftly transitions through seasons of love and loss, clarity and doubt, fusing every shade of modern R&B with throwback love ballads. Fun club bangers sound right at home next to sensual slow jams; flamenco guitars give way to vibey synths; Nola bounce drums merge into bright dance chords.
Not one to rest on his laurels, B Val followed up the album a few short months later with a 4-track rap EP, Hood to the Hills, further proving his diverse artistry. An ode to Val’s north Houston neighborhood of Acres Homes, the EP consists of 4 motivational anthems that are at once inspired by the home he loves, while manifesting a better future for he and his loved ones.
Having proven that he’s just as comfortable crafting an addictive R&B hook as he is a heart-thumping banger, the sky is the limit for B Val. He’s an artist firmly in control of his vision, who knows that in time, his destiny will be realized.
